Here's a post from Edward McKinley of Student Loan Justice.Org on Facebook that got me wondering: what has the Senator been doing for education lately? : Edward McKinley shared MoveOn.org's photo.
Please....comment hard on this. I spoke with the Senator's legislative aide on Education, Julie Morgan today. Folks....we are in big trouble if we still believe that the good Senator has anything in store at this time that may provide relief for those who have been the most deeply damaged by the most corrupt and predatory lending system in U.S. History. Maybe The Senator can benefit from a little refresher course on what the pain of student loan hell is like. Tell Senator Warren about your pain and ask her, what steps are you taking to restore the dignity of the millions who have been robbed of their American Dream. Hers seems to be pretty well intact. Ask Senator Warren why she continues to talk the talk while showing little sign of walking the walk. This written by someone who made much sacrifice working in her opponents backyard to help ensure her election. Tuff it up Senator...you are talking hardball, but you're playing slow pitch on this issue. The Senator claims to understand what students are facing ? Maybe. I fear, however, that those of us who finished school and already have been caught in the trap remain on our own.

Amanda Lee Brown I've been wondering if she's holding back, fizzled out, planning something, or WHAT? Actually, she co-sponsored the 'supposed' Senate version of HR3892, which is S1803 in December (referred to HELP). There's a lot of good things in it, but there's much lacking. Although the bills carry the practically the same name, they are quite different. Also, neither bill says it is related to the other one - they just have the same name. So, WHAT IS MY HEROINE DOING, I WONDER? She has been quite busy in several areas besides education. Yesterday morning, Sens. Warren and Hatch did introduce The Bipartisan TEACH Act - Legislation That Would Strengthen Accessibility of Higher Education Technology for Students with Disabilities (FEB 27, 2014.) She spoke about student loans 2/12/14 on the Senate floor @http://www.warren.senate.gov/?p=video&id=394 about upcoming legislation. She wants to refinance OLDER LOANS to 3.86 for undergrads and cut the total interest in half for others. She plans to do this without taxing the public: she wants to institute the "Buffett Rule" for billionaires (IDK) and use this tax money to refinance the older student loans. That's what she's doing currently. (Again, good, but NOT ENOUGH!) I plan to call and write as soon as I get through conferring with my new ex-IRS taxman and doing my homework on HR3892. I hope you all will do the same: knowing that we could count on Elizabeth Warren has been somehow comforting to me through all this. We need to put her feet to the fire and demand to know what else she and the HELP committee have in store for us: she has promised to deliver and we believed. Call and write her! Don't let her put us on the back burner, or even worse, halfway on medium heat! Feet to the fire, y'all!
